Sherene Nee

Sherene’s performing arts journey started back in her home city, Hong Kong, learning the piano in her childhood and decided to be a flautist at the age of 12. She played actively in her high school orchestra as the principal, also participated in different competitions and performances like Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.

Meanwhile she has learnt jazz dance for 8 years and has obtained ATOD Gold Medal certificate and CSTD Grade 6 certificate at the age of 16.

Now studying her classical music bachelor degree at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), she also manages to perform with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and as a soloist. Sherene also holds an ABRSM Grade 8 Piano certificate and ABRSM Grade 8 Flute certificate in 2008 and 2013 respectively. Her flute teachers include Riva Hui, Chloe Lau, Brian Chan, and she’s now under the tuition of Michael Howell in Perth.

Recently Sherene has launched the duet The Vivo Duo with cellist Matthew Henry. The Vivo Duo is a classical flute and cello duet based in Perth, Western Australia. Taking its name from the Italian music term “vivo” meaning lively. They aim to provide lively performances to the audience with the elegance of the flute and the beauty of the cello.
